Earth Day

Hello everybody

Once again, before I'll tell something about Dominican Republic, I'd like to talk about the Earth Day. Earth Day is a really important day in the whole year. Even though many people don't follow it, I think they should. In order to live on this beautiful planet, we need to care about it. There are many ways you can save the planet. Every little thing might change the future. So please, at least on this day, save electricity, recycle, don't waste paper and don't do other things that might harm the environment. And finally, to honor this day, I made a poem about it, so here it goes.

The planet is bright,

the planet is shiny,

but the chance of suviral here

is very tiny.

People pollute the environment,

People throw trash away,

the earth is being destroyed

every single day

We need to prevent this disaster

it's doing no good to us

it's just making the bus

that leads us to the heaven

And therefore, please

I beg you

save this planet

as well as I do.

Hope you liked it. So see you next time and remember, every little thing can help!

There's no better name than David

Hello everybody

Before I'll talk about Dominican Republic, I'd like to tell you something about why I chose the name "The Star of David" for this blog. You see, I think that you noticed my name is David. And that's is why I chose the name "The Star of David" for this blog. I just like the name David, because many famous people had that name like David Copperfield, David (the one who gave the birth to Joseph) and etc. For me, I think that there isn't a better name in the world than David or at least, the name David is better than the names Alex and Annie.

So see you later, if you have any questions or advices, just leave me a comment

Greece's History

Hello, everybody

Today I am going to talk about Greece's History. Like I said before, Greek History is very fascinating and interesting. The first known civilization in Greece is called Minoan civilization. Their land was on the island of Crete and their capital was probably Knossos (I don't really remember). Minonas developed a trading network since they couldn't farm due to their geography (1/5 of the land was good for farming). Here are some pictures of the sculptures, statues and pottery of the Minoan Civilization.

Later, the Minoans were overthrowned by Mycenaens. Mycenaens are well known for sea trading as well. But most impotantly, they are known for the story of the Wooden Horse. The story was passed down by a word of mouth. The poet that was credited to write all those stories in a poem was called Homer. He wrote two epics: Illiad and the Oddesey. If you want to know more information about the Wooden Horse, you can listen to the story on this website: http://storynory.com/category/educational-and-entertaining-stories/greek-myths/

Next, I'll talk about Alexander the Great. But before that, I'd like to tell that a lot of things happened before Alexander the Great was born. There are so many things that I can't even talk about them, and therefore, I skip. If you want to know more, just leave me comment. Alexander the Great was a great military leader. His father was King Philip. King Philip was the kind of Macedonia. After Philip's death, Alexander comes on the throne. King Phillip's death was caused by his wife (probably, it's just a theory); she assasinated him. When Alexander came on the throne, he wanted to conquer Persia. And so, he went on to Persia with his military. He went on and on beating Persia slowly, but surely until Persian Empire was defeated. He wanted to conquer other regions, but his military gave up and returned to Greece. And so Alexander did as well. Unfortunately, he got a fever in Babylon (a city-state in Babylonia) and died. Here is a picture of him.

The End. The next post will be about Greece's artifacts and buildings.

Greece

Hello, everybody

Today, I am going to talk about Greece. Before I'll talk about Greece, I'd like to remind you that there will be many posts about Greece; there won't be just one post about Greece, but many. So I hope you'll read them all.

Greece is a great place because of its history. Greece is located in souteastern Europe and borders Turkey, Bulgaria, the Republic of Macedonia and Albania. Ionian Sea is on the west, Aegan Sea is on the east the Mediterranean Sea in the south. Greece is a peninsula which means it is an area connected to the mainland which surrounded by water. Greece has a lot of mountains like Mt. Olumpus. Greece also has many and many small islands like Crete. A picture of Greece is shown above.

So, that is it for now. The next post about Greece will be about Greece's history. If you have any questions about Greece, leave me a comment.

Where do I live?

Hello, everybody!

Before I'll tell you something about other countries and history, I'd like to tell you where I live. I live in a fascinating, but dirty country called Vietnam. I call it "dirty", because it is really dirty. The streets are fulled with trash, germs are everywhere and the atmosphere is Vietnam is unbelievably too polluted than I imagined. Vietnam looks like a junk of trash and garbage to me.

Even though this country is extremely dirty, there are many interesting places you can visit. For example, Ha Long Bay is very know in Vietnam. Ha Long Bay is known as the most beautiful natural site in the world (that's what I heard from my friends). Ha Long Bay is a very beautiful place filled with peace and relaxation. You can see a picture at the right.

Finally. Vietnam is know for its delicious food. The most famous food is called Pho. Pho is a very famous soup in Vietnam. A normal Pho contains water, noodles, vegetable and many spices which I don't know. I think that Pho is the best food in the world, so if you want to try some, you can find the recipe on this website: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/719293/howto_cook_pho/

In this website, a woman prepares a beef pho; hope you'll enjoy!
So this is it; this is the end of Vietnam. If you have any questions, just leave me a comment.
